How it works

How to submit anonymously

Use your organization's access code to send anonymous feedback. This guide explains the process and privacy protections.

3-step overview

Submit in three clear steps

You only need your organization's access code to begin. The process is designed to be simple while maximizing your anonymity.

Step 1

Scan a QR code or visit relayclear.com

Scan a QR code provided by your organization, or visit relayclear.com/submit and enter the access code you received. Either way, the code connects your submission to your organization without revealing your identity. Works on any phone or computer, no app needed.

Step 2

Write your submission

Write your message, choose delivery timing, and submit your feedback without creating an account or providing identifying information.

Step 3

Receive your delivery status tracking link

You'll receive a unique delivery status tracking link that displays real-time delivery status. This link is your only proof of delivery and expires after 30 days.

After you submit

What happens after you submit

RelayClear processes your submission in a fixed sequence designed to protect timing and limit retained data.

1. Your submission is encrypted

Immediately after you submit, your message is encrypted and stored in isolated, secure storage separate from the main database. This happens within seconds.

2. Timing delay applied

Depending on your choice, your submission randomly waits 2-24 hours before delivery. This random delay helps prevent anyone from identifying you based on when the message arrives.

3. Delivered to your organization

Your submission is delivered to your organization's designated email address (or backup email address) with no identifying information attached.

4. Submission permanently deleted

After delivery, your submission content is permanently deleted from RelayClear's systems. We don't keep copies, backups, or logs of submission content.

Privacy guarantees

Privacy guarantees

RelayClear is built from the ground up to protect your identity. Here's exactly what we do and don't collect.

No IP addresses stored

Your IP address is never written to our database. We store a short-lived, one-way identifier for abuse prevention only which expires automatically after 30 days. Third-party infrastructure (like Cloudflare) may maintain their own request logs for up to 24 hours. No analytics or tracking code exists on the submission page, and the Privacy Policy explains the limited Microsoft Clarity exception that applies on some non-submission surfaces. See our privacy policy for details.

Temporary submission content storage

Submission content is temporarily stored in isolated, encrypted storage only until the email is sent (at maximum within 24 hours), then deleted from RelayClear systems. Never stored in the main database.

No accounts required

You don't create an account, log in, or provide an email address. Scan a QR code or type an access code from any device, no app needed, no personal information collected or stored.

Delayed delivery protects your timing

Your message is held for a random window (2-24 hours) before delivery. This makes it harder to guess who sent it based on when the message arrived.

Proof of delivery via tracking link

Your unique delivery status tracking link confirms delivery status for 30 days. After 30 days, the link expires and delivery metadata is purged.

One-way communication only

RelayClear is a one-way relay. Your organization cannot reply to your submission, which protects your anonymity.

FAQ

Common questions

These are the most common questions people have before they submit and while they are checking delivery.

Can my organization identify me through RelayClear?

RelayClear does not provide identifying information to your organization. They receive only the submission content. However, your message content itself may reveal your identity depending on what you write. Be careful about including details that only you would know.

What if I lose my delivery status tracking link?

The delivery status tracking link is the only way to check delivery status. We can't retrieve it for you because we don't store any information that connects submissions to individuals. Save the link immediately after submitting.

Why are there delivery timing options?

Your message is held for a random window before delivery. A longer window makes it harder to connect timing to who sent it. The 24-hour option gives the strongest timing protection; the 2-hour option is faster with less cover.

Can I submit more than once?

Yes. You can submit multiple times. Rate limits apply (5 submissions per hour) to prevent abuse, but these limits are designed to accommodate legitimate use.

What happens if delivery fails?

Although RelayClear validates all receiving mailboxes before account creation, delivery failures can still occur. The tracking link will show a failed status. This could be due to email server issues, spam filters, or configuration problems on your organization's end. To protect your anonymity, if the delivery fails after repeated tries to the primary and backup receiving accounts, your message will be discarded and you can try submitting again later.

Is RelayClear completely anonymous?

RelayClear provides strong technical anonymity, no raw IP logging, no content storage, timing delays, and no accounts. However, complete anonymity also depends on what you write. Be thoughtful about the details you include in your message.
